Centenary of Federation (Stolen Drawings)
These are the preliminary drawings for the large Centenary of Federation painting, which now hangs next to the Tom Robert’s Federation Painting in Parliament House, Canberra.
I did 115 personal portraits, each one set up for position and lighting consistent with their positioning in my painting.  Most were done in a makeshift studio in Parliament House.  During my off periods I would walk down to Old Parliament House to draw the Ned Kelly death mask.  I made photocopies of all the drawings so that I could use them for the painting.

The 2 original sketchbooks were stolen from the Riverton Railway Station in 2003 whilst I was conducting a painting workshop.  Police were called in but to no avail.  My hope is that showing these drawings might lead to their recovery.
